APPEAL A PARKING CITATION

ONLY TICKETS GIVEN IN ERROR OR IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION (MEDICAL, MECHANICAL, ETC.) MAY BE APPEALED. IF YOU DO NOT MEET THIS CRITERIA, YOU MUST PAY YOUR TICKET.

To file an appeal for a student parking citation, please complete all of the following information and click the "FILE APPEAL" button at the bottom. Fill out one form per citation. Note that the blue fields are required and they cannot be left empty. The burden of proof rests with the student filing the appeal.

Please be advised that providing false information is a violation of University policy and will be referred to Judicial Affairs to be dealt with through the University's disciplinary process.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN A TICKET FOR “NO CAMPUS PERMIT” PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFO:

If you currently have a parking pass for the lot in which you were cited, you may take your ticket to Parking Services within seven days to appeal. You DO NOT need to appeal online via the COTA website. You may only appeal within seven days and only if you currently have a parking pass for the lot in which you were cited. You may appeal up to three of these types of tickets per semester at Parking Services. Reasons  for  Appeal:

Please briefly state why you believe that this citation should be voided. It is to your advantage to bring this form and any supporting evidence to court with you. Should you choose to waive the hearing, your appeal will be decided solely on the information you provide, so be as specific as possible.

Hearing Date:

You may elect to waive a hearing and have the COTA decision based on your explanation listed above or you may attend a COTA hearing.

You must bring your citation with you to court. If you do not appear in court on your selected date and time, your appeal will be automatically denied according to Section 8-1 of the MTSU Parking Regulations. However, waiving your right to appear is not subject to this regulation. Court dockets are limited and slots are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Note: Circumstances such as ignorance of the parking rules and regulations and/or the law (i.e. I only parked there for a few minutes; I couldn't find anywhere else to park; I didn't want to be late for class, etc.) typically do not constitute a sufficient reason for voiding a ticket.

Decisions of the Court of Traffic Appeals are final. You cannot appeal their decision.
